Aaron brings 15 years of experience in canvas and boat construction to every project, along with thousands of offshore miles as a sailor himself. He is a Master Sailmaker certified by North Sails, a distinction held by only a handful of individuals worldwide. His expertise extends well beyond canvas to composite manufacturing for boats and underwater vehicles, as well as rope work, where he has mastered everything from traditional techniques to high-end splicing.
Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from the University of Rhode Island. It was during those years, first sailing offshore to the Caribbean for his studies and then leading the URI Sailing Team, that his love for the industry took hold.
His roots in the trade run generations deep, descending from a line of sailors and marine builders dating back to the Plymouth Cordage Company. Aaron's feel for the flow of sailing and his holistic understanding of technical boat construction are evident in his thoughtful design and craftsmanship. After years across the marine trades, he now focuses on canvas. The work is hands-on, precise, and rewards the attention to detail he brings to everything he builds.
Aaron still races competitively today. He resides in Portsmouth, RI with his wife Megan and their menagerie of senior pets.

Megan brings 15 years of engineering and business experience from the corporate world. At Benson, you can find her doing all things unrelated to canvas, leaving Aaron to do what he does best.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University. Outside the shop, she works as a marketer in the Medtech industry and as part-time faculty at her alma mater Boston University.
